Samantha Schultz
Age: 29
Ethnicity: Canadian-Filipina
Occupation and/or Company: Artist and Full-Time Musician
Years of experience: ~18 years
Personal & professional philosophy:
Be authentic and honest in everything you do; work hard and love hard; be a voice for those who may be struggling to find their own, and always fight to further the good in the world!
Upcoming performances/ project:
I’ll be releasing my first song of 2021 called “The Quiet”. I wrote it last April, about a month after the pandemic hit. Most of my live gigs for the next year were cancelled. Facing the prospect of unemployment, my mental stability quickly deteriorated. Writing this song was cathartic for me. I’ve learned I needed moments of stillness in the arms of someone I trust to reset and keep going toward a better day. That’s what this song is all about.
What is the highlight of your work?
In my senior high school year, Berklee College of Music called me, informing me I had won the Gary Slaight Family Scholarship: a full-ride scholarship. I was the second Canadian to ever receive it. This opportunity set me up for many amazing opportunities. I’ve travelled around the world to play my music. I’ve become an official COVERGIRL. Never would I have imagined I’d be living in Los Angeles, fulfilling my teenage dreams of being an artist and working musician … and it all stemmed from that phone call over 11 years ago!
Future goals:
I’d love to get my first-ever headlining tour under my belt, especially in the Philippines. I want to continue to write music about love and positive change. I want to be a voice for people who may be struggling to find their own. I want to be an advocate and role model for people of mixed racial backgrounds and young women who aspire to find their place in the arts. Above all, I want to be immersed in music for the rest of my life because it’s given me everything I’ve hoped for and more.
