Occupation and/or Company: Director for Good Morning, Viet Mom but also an actor, playwright, theatre producer, acting teacher at The Second City and Director of Development for Studio 180 Theatre.
Years of experience: 27 years of professional experience in theatre, film and television.
Personal & professional philosophy: My personal philosophy is to be a good person. My goal is to leave the world better than I found it and to try to bring joy and warmth to everyone I meet. Professionally, my philosophy is to focus on the work, follow my curiosity and to collaborate with good people.
Upcoming performances/project: Directing Good Morning, Viet Mom with Cahoots Theatre, co-creating and performing Monday Nights, an interactive basketball theatre performance in June (to be announced in March) and writing/producing the world premiere of Through the Bamboo at the Toronto Fringe Festival, co-written with my wife, Andrea Mapili.
What is the highlight of your work?
Co-creating Monday Nights, an interactive basketball and theatre piece is one of things I’m most proud of in my career. Directing my first show with Cahoots Theatre is a recent highlight and writing an epic children’s play with my wife are also at the top of my list.
Future goals:
I’ll always continue acting since that’s my first love but I also like directing and writing. I’m hoping to try my hand at more film/TV creation and possibly lead a theatre company as an Artistic Director. Ultimately, I want to continue making art that resonates with people.
